Henry headed to Barcelona

Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has signed with FC Barcelona, Spanish news report said Friday June 22, 2007. Barcelona will pay euro24 million (US$32 million) for Henry, who signed a 4-year deal, Cadena Ser radio and the newspaper El Pais said.

MADRID, Spain (AP) -- Thierry Henry is leaving Arsenal to sign with Barcelona in one of European soccer's major transfers of the offseason.

Barcelona will pay $32 million for the 29-year-old forward, who agreed to a four-year contract, Cadena Ser radio and the newspaper El Pais said Friday. Barcelona planned to announce the signing on Saturday.

Henry has been with Arsenal since 1999, scoring a club-record 226 goals in 364 appearances. He helped the Gunners win two English Premier League titles and four Football Association Cups.

no experience is not necessarily the only solution to the problem. If they buy smart, they can still challenge for 1st. First signing is edmillson or Emerson who aren't happy, and they will come cheap. 5 million pounds tops. Second buy trezeguet. They can get him for 10 million pounds tops. And finally trade adebayor for cisse from Marseilles. In total it should cost them 20 million if some clubs are being b*tches. henry will provide them with 10-15 million pounds. If they're not willing to spend 5 million pounds, they dont deserve to be considered a powerhouse.


If they make these sorts of transfers buy bringing in 2 strikers and DM. They will cover henry's place easily. They have a new goalie and also plenty of midfield so they youngs can play. Toure is enough for the defence along with gallas.

They still maintained a strong season last year without much help from Henry but it showed in the CL and prem how much his services are needed.

Losing Henry is a red flag to the whole transfer market saying DONT COME HERE. There aren't many experienced stars that can take Henry's place and there aren't many that would want to come to Arsenal at this point or ones that are in the transfer market to begin with. They are just playing the youth wildcard and waiting for them to develop. There is no way Arsenal will compete with Liverpool, Chelsea or Man U. They might not even take Tottenham.
