My head MIGHT be muddling him up with Steve Mandanda...

BREAKING: Ibrahimovic has underwent a knee surgery today in Lyon and the prognosis is expected between 7-8 months

7-8 months...

The surgery for me indicates that he'll stay. But 7 to 8 months... That's a long time for someone his age, it's basically missing 2/3 of next season.

Whatever the case, if Zlatan wants to stay, then we should give him another year. Even if he doesn't play at all aside from a few minutes here and there. His presence behind the scenes is priceless

He's earned the right to do what he wants. He was a massive part of 19, his leadership possibly made the difference to turn us into champions.

I was against the extension, on the basis of age, but the guy is a phenomenal winner and that breeds success.

As a player he's keeps defying his age (he deserved that offside goal) but he is breaking down more and more, but as a football man and a Milan man, which he is all the way, let's face it, he's, as you say, priceless.

In the twilight years of Zidanine Zidan?s career, his presence in the middle of the park was fundamental for France?s success in the WC.

In the twilight years of Zlatan Ibrahimovic?s career, his presence in the dressing room & bench helped the team go the extra mile.

I see similarities in both players for what they give to spur on their teams. Zlatan proved his worth, he was worth every cent. He converted a team that at most would have been EL material to Italian champions and a back to back showing in CL.

I am pro Ibra?s extension at Milan.

With regards to potential transfers. I believe aside from the usual suspects Origi, Botman and Sanches ? a RW is fundamental. Doesn?t Origi play was an RW as well? Could be a solution with Rebic/Giroud/Zlatan player their same roles.

Whatever is decided at the end of the day by the management. An RW, a Kessie & Romagnoli replacements have already been lined up.

I would like to see Samuel, Balo Tore and Messias let go ? bring in a mixed of experience in their place to allow the team to make at least a QF showing in the CL.

I would also hope the team can secure a back to back Scudetto. Beating Cala (not inter) once again. However Milan should be weary of Juve and Napoli as both these teams will be thereabouts. But inter, man! Of all the rivalry between them and Milan, the one I loath the most is Cala! I hope his most successful trophy is limited to the Cuppa. I can not stand him! I mean when Pirlo left Milan i did not feel such hatred towards a player as i do towards him. Not because he is a good player that left for free, but the gestures in the derby, the comments he made at the start of the season. What a waste Milan took him in and he repays Milan with utter disgrace!

You never know, 120M is tempting.

Wouldn?t bet against his sale, Chelsea, City, PSG, Madrid, Barca, Atletico, and the list goes on and on.

Dont get me wrong, I hope he stays. Just being realistic here.

Of course 120m is a lot, especially for us.

But. I think hte current management also consider that within 2 years he'll be worth even more than that. I really think they'll want to keep him no matter what offer comes in as not only is he a huge asset on the pitch, but he's an even bigger one off it for us.

I just saw a data fact today re fastest growing football brands and we are number one by a good margin. Players like Leao continue to boost those numbers. And with new owners coming in who will be keener to invest than Elliot were, I see now reason to sell Rafa at this point in time. Not unless he specifically ask to leave

Steve and Mike though? Never heard that

QUOTE (X-Offender @ May 26 2022, 11:03 AM) *
Anything above 100m for an Italian club is too much to refuse, let alone 150m. Even if we don't have any debts and cash flow issues, if Man City or some other club comes knocking with that amount it'd be hard to say no. And I wouldn't be against it either, because I know we can re-invest that money.

But I have a very good feeling about Leao's renewal, and that with the new ownership coming in the first thing they'll do is sign him a new contract meeting his demands. We're Italian champions, we need to start thinking big.

He can stay or retire, at this point it doesn't make much of a difference. He will hardly play next season, which means we'll have only Origi, a 36-year-old Giroud and adapting Rebic in the CF position. If Origi turns out to be good, then I would be fine with that setup. We could concentrate on the RW position (I read an interest in De Ketelaere from Mediaset this morning). But if Origi turns out a semi-failure, then we'll be in the exact same position as this year.

Hmm, never heard that. I only know Magic Mike as his nickname.

But we're not the same as Inter or Napoli here. We got an excellent financial outlook ahead of us. We don't need to sell at this point. Especially not a player who had not reached the maximum transfer value he could potentially reach.

And with new ownership coming in, it's as you said, I doubt they'd want to announce their arrival by selling the biggest star in the side.

The important thing is to renew him, give him absolutely whatever he wants. Remove the release clause as well.

Zlatan can play all of 20 minutes total for all I care next season. His contribution behind the scenes is too important. I personally want him to stay

Oh come on Han, more than 120 mil for Leao? I don't think he's worth 70 right now, and even if he manages to improve, I doubt he'll ever reach, say, 2017 Neymar-level that pushed PSG to spend 200 mil for him.

Leao is great, but I think everyone is seriously overrating him at the moment. He has serious limitations as a player.

An extract from Maldini's interview on Gazzetta this morning:

QUOTE
"Mine and Massara's contracts are expiring and we have not renewed. For the path taken and the Rangnick affair I find little respect that the CEO (Gazidis, ed) and Elliott have not even sat down to talk with us, I just say to talk. Because they might say to us 'Your work was not good enough to continue' or it may be that I say 'I don't like your strategy'."

"I like to be a sort of guarantee for the milanista. I'm not the right person for a project that doesn't have a winning idea. I could never do that. The reality is that the owners have never sat down at the table and this is not good."

"For months we have been moving on the market but at the moment we do not have the financial resources for this leap in quality, also because we are in a transition phase. Three big names would allow us to open a cycle, with a high-level strategy we can compete big."

"Today with a high-level strategic vision, AC Milan could compete with the greatest. If you choose, on the contrary, a vision of maintenance, without investments, without ideas, the risk is to remain in limbo. The ownership, Elliott or the next one, need to understand the strategy they want for the future ".

Wow. Just, wow. These are some very heavy statements to make. And very upsetting. Not just the contract renewal aspect, but also the message he's passing that Elliott and the new ownership apparently don't want to spend any money. This could be very, very bad.

If players like Sancho are going for more than 80m, then Leao is worth the 120 easy.

Sure he has limitations, we all know what the are because we've been watching him for the past 3 years now. But he has all the things that make him a highly sought after commodity in football.

Players are worth what clubs are willing to pay. Was Neymar actually worth the 200m at the time? Probably not. But PSG paid it.

I'm not saying Leao is there yet, but with the ridiculous inflation in football today. If Leaoe has to be sold, we better get top top dollar for him.

Yeah, this interview is seriously upsetting. Especially coming off the Scudetto. And it's even more worrying coming from Maldini. Because you know that if he's talking to the press, then there is good reason for it

Think this interview is a precursor of Maldini?s contract expiring at the end of June without a renewal.

I believe Leao is one of the first to be sold if the club is to remain within FFP guidelines and reinvest in other areas of the team.

A lot of moving parts whether the club is sold this summer or not. But most likely it would be sold, and the new ownership will be faced with fury if they do not renew with Maldini and Massara. A new project/strategy has to be drafted for the next 3/5 years.

P.S. Savor this Scudetto guys, could be the last Milan celebrate in a while if conditions do not improve.

Looks like we have reached an agreement with Noa Lang (source: Gazzeta). Maldini met his father-agent on Wednesday and both parties agreed on the terms of the contract. Brugge ask around 22m for him, which is a very good price.

I think he would be a great addition. The only issue I have is that he's mainly a LW, but I think I read that he was promised to play as AM.

Obviously with the change in ownership expected to happen next week and Maldini's recent statements we have to see when the mercato will start moving for us.

I don't think any renewals will happen until new ownership come in so it's pointless to make assumptions.

It would be idiotic to let a management team as successful as Paolo and Massara go on the new management's part. It would make absolutely no sense. So If everything is finalized in the coming week or so as most are anticipating. I expect both Paolo and Massara to be given new deals.

And btw. FFP is dead a buried now. And if any of that BS is ever enforced again. Clubs should take the Mbappe receipts to court and stuff it up UEFA's @ss.

Paolo, might be angry now, but if Elliot are on their way out, they're not going to be making long term decisions for the club. Paolo also mentioned that Gazidis hasn't talked to him either, but I'd say that Gazidis is the one with the least say here as his position is probably the one that's on shaky ground from all the management as new ownership would want to put in their own guy in that CEO position

Btw

RedBird Capital Partners have bought 30-40% in sports marketing and talent agency Wasserman Media Group.

They are one if not the biggest Agency and have players like Valverde,Ismael Sarr,
and funny enough also Noa Lang under contract.

If you think our new ownership are going to spend 1.3b on the club to let it languish in mid-table limbo then I don't know what to say. These guys obviously have the money to back it up. Why invest in a club and not grow it, especially one with so much untapped potential as Milan
