AC Milan - Milanfan.com _ Matches _ Serie A - Week 35 - Milan - Bologna

Could be our Scudetto day if things go our way!! Couldn't wait to open this one. Hopefully we win and Inter stumble, not very likely considering they have Cesena, but it is an away game, which they usually struggle in

Keep on rocking, Hanny boy! cool.gif The last few threads you opened have been sweet bliss (even if a little less visited during the match days). And yeah, agreed, this one could be the stamp on our title - this or the next one. Ooo, the excitement!

Are you implying that I am the reason for the low reply level? mad.gif

As for this game, we'll have players missing, including Van Bommel, which imo is a HUGE loss, we've come to depend on him so much it's ridiculous. And personally, I love to see us play when he's there, there's just something about the swagger in which the players take the pitch, they're very confident and assured.

Maybe Pippo will be back, which would be great considering we currently don't have any finishers, Cassano has shown us he's not an areal man wink.gif while Robinho was his usual self today but came through finally, I literally closed my eyes when I saw him clean through, certain that he would actually miss it.

Hopeing for Nesta to be back, we really miss him as well, it's the same thing as with VB in the case of Nesta, when he's playing he gives the others confidence, especially Thiago, who doesn't have to spend the entire 90 worrying about what blunder the other CB will do next, allbait Yepes has been very good lately, he's still no Nesta, and today he made a couple of teeny weeny mistakes that stopped my heart a couple of times

Posted by: Zed.D Apr 23 2011, 08:44 PM

Would be sweet to celebrate the title in San Siro, instead of winning it when we're playing away. FORZA CESENA!

Posted by: han2503 Apr 23 2011, 08:47 PM

Come on you Sea Horses!! Make us proud!! You did it to us, no reason why you shouldn't do it to this ridiculous Inter side!!

Posted by: X-Offender Apr 23 2011, 08:57 PM

So, if Inter doesn't win against Cesena next Saturday, we'll have the blissful opportunity to win the scudetto Sunday, at home. Biutiful. king.gif

Nope. We're 9 points ahead of them. If we both win next week, the distance would remain 9 points, and with only 3 games remaining, we'd have the upper hand due to the direct games. wink.gif

Quite agreed. king.gif He is the experienced head in the midfield that somewhat makes up for the recent absences of Ambrosini and Gattuso. Definitely deserves a one-year extension. Having said that, I hope all our players make it back in time for the celebrations. That would be sweet.

Speaking of which, will this Ronaldinho get the title added to his list accolades (provided we win) seeing as he played in the first few matches of the season? unsure.gif Not quit sure how this thing works.

Oh well. sleepysmiley03.gif Not that I'm complaining. I just had a funny feeling because if he was part of the squad for the first half of the season, maybe he will get something.

Posted by: X-Offender Apr 24 2011, 02:17 PM

We'll have out Van Bommel due to suspension, and Gattuso due to injury, so we can play with either Pirlo or Ambrosini in front of the defense. But considering Bologna are in a really bad moment (four consecutive losses), I think it'd be acceptable to play an offensive line-up. Also, I assume Nesta should be coming back for this one.

Abbiati
Abate - Nesta - T. Silva - Zambrotta
Flamini - Pirlo - Seedorf
Boateng
Robinho - Cassano

Anyone know what's the record in Serie A?

Posted by: dst Apr 24 2011, 03:41 PM

I don't know the record but in 93-94 Milan had 21 with a shockingly low 36 goals scored and 15 conceded.

I wouldn't hold any weight to anything goal.com says. We'll see what happens, Ibra will definately be back for Roma which is a huge bonus, maybe Nesta could be back for the next game though

Posted by: Jack Bauer Apr 25 2011, 02:44 PM

Pato's injury is not serious and he's trying to be fit for Bologna. It's safe to assume that he'd be ready for Roma.

I hope Pato has a part to play in the Bologna match i see no down side in him playing a part seeing as he's just comming back from a injury and seeing as we will have Ibra back for the Roma match where Pato can sit out , we need this Bologna win !

Posted by: Zed.D Apr 25 2011, 04:27 PM

If there's a chance to win the title on Sunday (seeing as Inter play before us) Pato should definitely play some minutes!!

Im glad that Ibra and Pato will be back soon but it isn't the first time Pato had a tighinjury
Yepes and Thiago Silva are great at the defense but Im happy that Nesta will be back!

Posted by: Jack Sparrow Apr 27 2011, 07:54 AM

So supposedly chances for our Pippo to be back for this one.

Oh..and Allegri has never won more that 4 games on the trot. The article is up on acmilan.com as well.

This is our 5th 4-game winning streak. So don't be disappointed if we draw/lose. biggrin.gif And be very very happy if we win. biggrin.gif

MILAN: Abbiati, Abate, Nesta, Thiago Silva, Zambrotta, Flamini, Ambrosini, Seedorf, Boateng, Robinho, Cassano.

BOLOGNA: Viviano, Moras, Portanova, Britos, Cherubin, Mutarelli, Mudingayi, Meggiorini, Ekdal, Rubin, Di Vaio.

I think Allegri wants to be safe and just get the win and not let this one slip through our fingers like Bari , and if we really need to attack attack he'll come on soon enough. I know you could go with this angle and say we have to score first for it to be in the bag but at least we will have options in attack when we need it most if we are struggling to score that is.

Totally agree it was not even a yellow the referee got it wrong. Its just more stupid ammunition for inter to blast us with now. They did'nt have a shot i don't think but they came pretty close with the headers , Abbiati would not have gotten to them if they were on target.

I can understand both points, but the drop of pace was so obvious. Milan just stood there like frozen. No motion at all. We were very lucky to get this 3 points, as we were against Brescia. We're in a zone, but it isn't all that good. I don't get why Allegri has to wait until the last possible drop of energy is gone to make his first change. I used to say it's small-club coach mentality, but hey, he's an intelligent man, he should have gotten rid of it by now. Doesn't he understand the concept of taking players out??

Totally agreed. sad.gif Unless he changes, it will hurt us in big matches and Europe. Timely subs are vital.

Couple of points.

I think Pirlo should be given the green light ahead of Seedorf come next game, Seedorf is once again looking tired, his problem is that he cannot handle a consistant stream of games at this point in his career. Pirlo just brough a sense of rejuniation to the midfield, while Boateng had been injured for a while and Allegri kept wating to make the change.

Beretta impressed. The kid has it in him imo, the finishing needs polishing but I didn't expect him to really score in such a high pressure situation anyways.

Abate as well started making a lot of passing mistakes by the end.

I think they let it get to their heads to much.

Ambro imo was one of our worst players, I mean is it that hard to intercept a pass, and pass? Keep the ball moving not try to do ridiculous sh!t with it. He lost the ball a lot of times when he should have played it simple, can't wait to have the Bommel back next week. We really missed him in midfield. Also another point. Ibra back next Sunday, we can finally have a real dtriker back on, neither Cassano nor Robinho can lead an attacking line. Cassano was completely iscolated up there and that is really not how his game thrives. Maybe Pato will be back as well.

Hopefully Boateng doesn't have anything serious.

+1 What I don't get is why Allegri didn't try him out earlier on, not just this match, earlier this season. There sure was time and space for that to do. Playing with a Robinho-Cassano attack twice in a row is frustrating.

Carlo used to do the same. lol

Agreed completely. Allegri imo has been damn near perfect these last few month, but today he's just p!ssed me off royally. We were barely hanging on, the players walking by that time, and still nothing from Allegri. He should have brought on Pirlo the moment Boateng and Seedorf start whaning so much! Same goes for Beretta, who really helped out with his physicality, something that Cassano and Robinho cannot provide because they're just not that type of players

Why didn't Paloschi impress you? I mean, he didn't shine for the last 2 years and his career took a step in the wrong way, but when he played for us, he was very good.

Don't know. He was supposedly a poacher...but I never got it..the feeling. That he could score a goal anytime the ball was in and around the box. Something the true greats like Pippo, RvN etc made you feel. I think only Pazzini comes close to becoming the heir to Pippo, at least for the Azzuri.

Well, he's young, I really cannot say it by now. Did Pippo look that way with 18?

Agreed. wink.gif I like the guy as a player, and there was a time when he stood out from the other young players: had a good scoring record, a great eye for the game and positioning and frankly I felt he just needed time. I know injuries kick in at just the wrong time for a <25 years old player, but still, I'd much rather have this guy than some of the other ones in our youth setup.

But as long as he and Astori come back, these are the two youth players that I have faith in. sleep.gif Also used to like Adiyah, saw him as a quick guy with lethal movement, and one who we could have worked on. Oh well.

Admittedly no. I only heard of Pippo at Atalanta. But it's not like he's shown any remarkable improvements at Parma either. I know he's been injured but....

I get you. That's what worries me too. But Inzaghi started to be a prolific scorer only at Atalanta, before that he also had his Parma, made about 15 appearances and scored only 2 goals.
