Milan ready for resumptionWednesday 10 January, 2007Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti is confident that the winter training camp in Malta will have breathed new life into their campaign.
The Rossoneri have been away from the peninsula since the start of this month and will fly back to Italy on Wednesday ahead of tomorrow’s Coppa Italia tie against Arezzo.
“The training camp was very positive,†said Ancelotti, whose side defeated Maltese champions Birkirkara 5-0 in a friendly match on Tuesday.
“All the players were very determined and the recent good results have made us more convinced of what we can do.
“We have a solid base to start from now. We have to get back to normal and the match with Arezzo will be very delicate.
“We don’t want to underestimate it and I don’t think there will be drop in the team’s concentration.â€
Ancelotti does have some selection problems ahead of the Italian Cup match though. “Kakha Kaladze, Kaka and Massimo Ambrosini will not play,†he explained.
“Kaka will be available for the match against Reggina on Sunday, while Kaladze will be out for another week.
“Ricardo Oliveira will play upfront next to Willy Aubameyang. Filippo Inzaghi and Alberto Gilardino may come on later in the match.â€
Newly signed Leandro Grimi made his debut with the Rossoneri yesterday following his move from Racing Club, but the 21-year-old Argentine had a few difficulties.
“We cannot use yesterday’s game as a test, so we can’t judge,†noted the former Juventus tactician.
“Grimi has only had four training sessions with us. He’s got another month to settle in and we mustn’t worry.â€
