AC Milan - Milanfan.com _ Past Players _ Zvonimir Boban

Just noticed that he doesn't have a thread. I think he deserves one.

Posted by: I_Rossoneri Aug 28 2008, 06:15 PM

Not only was he an outstanding football player(and a Brad Pitt lookalike - lucky so and so laugh.gif ), but he speaks the truth. I would like to think we have a place for him somewhere in our management setup.

I loved to watch him in the 90s. Was a great player king.gif

Boban On Sheva: I Don’t Like Soup Re-Heated

Former Milan star Zvonimir Boban has criticised the club for bringing back Andriy Shevchenko, and says that he “does not like soups re-heated.”

Shevchenko rejoined Milan last weekend following a miserable two years at Chelsea, and the wisdom of his signing has split critics.

The Ukrainian striker was among the most exciting players in the world when he arrived in London for an English-record fee of £30million. However, he then slipped into obscurity, managing just nine goals and 47 Premier League appearances.

Many have questioned whether the 31-year-old can recapture the form that saw him named European Footballer of the Year in 2004, with some suggesting he will never recover from his Chelsea ordeal.

"I think Sheva will feel good at Milan,” Boban is quoted as saying by SKY.

“He has always done well at San Siro.

“However, I do not agree with Milan’s purchase. I don’t like soups re-heated."

Boban is well respected at San Siro, following a superb nine years spent there from 1992 to 2001, when he won four Scudetti, a Champions League, a European Supercup, and three Supercoppa Italiana’s. The Croatian played with Shevchenko during the latter stages of his career.

God, I love this guy. cool.gif Cool name too, Boban. Now, what he says is probably right, Sheva will most certainly do well in San Siro. It's his personal opinion whether the Ukrainian should have been brought back. I can't really think of mine now. But he's back alright, so I can't wait to see him play for us again.

How the 2nd coming pans out, remains for all to see. We'll know soon enough. For now, best of luck to Sheva! smile.gif

Isn't it him, who owns the restaurant. Any idea what Savicevic is upto nowadays...?

Oh, yes, it's one of my favorite restaurant's in Zagreb,.. biggrin.gif

Savičević? Hmhm, he turend out NOT to be the Il Genio of coaching so he made himself a political career in Montenegro and was involved in the PRO-independence movement..

Posted by: Jack Sparrow Aug 29 2008, 12:10 PM

Politics? Heh heh...So he's gonna be the Galliani replacement?

This is the absolute best quote about Sheva! cool.gif

Thank you Paolo for the privileges you've given to this man!

Talking about soups. laugh.gif He's obviously heavy into the restaurant business. biggrin.gif I mean he could have come with a hundred different analogies...

I don't recognize the Brazilian and Norwegian ones. Who're they?

Posted by: Fillipo Simone Sep 13 2012, 11:24 PM

Leonardo, Andre Cruz and Steinar Nilsen smile.gif

Anyone figures who's missing?

Posted by: X-Offender Nov 25 2013, 09:20 PM

Boban: "Balotelli? Enough talking about this Balotelli. He hasn't done anything in his whole career than warming the bench everywhere. He'll always be smaller than Milan and Milan will always be bigger than him. His laid-back attitude shows that he simply cannot use his brain to understand a few things, he doesn't understand what it means to wear this jersey. He should learn from Kaká, someone who's won Champions League, World Cup and Ballon d'Or. He runs and commits himself like a young boy. Balotelli in my Milan would be holding the bags for the various Van Basten, Weah and Shevchenko. Twice late in training in a row? In my Milan he would have gotten bitchslapped by people like Maldini, Costacurta, Desailly, Seba Rossi, Baresi..."

Apparently Boban made these comments on a Croatian TV. Maybe Fillipo can confirm?

Posted by: kurtsimonw Nov 25 2013, 09:50 PM

I wonder if he really feels this way or if he's just trying to light a fire under Balo to get him to perform (if these comments are true).

Posted by: han2503 Nov 25 2013, 09:52 PM

Either is plausible I think people are very justified in feeling this way about Balo. Yes, he's struggling with form atm, but his attitude stinks to high heaven

Posted by: Jack Bauer Nov 25 2013, 10:03 PM

Boban king.gif I completely agree with him but this team has absolutely nothing in common with his Milan besides colours and name. We don't have those kinda leaders anymore.

Yeah, we have no leadership qualities in this side aside from Kaka, and one man, an equal in the team to other players can't do it all

And it should not be their responsibility to control the team, but the coach's and if necessary, upper management like Galliani

Posted by: X-Offender Nov 25 2013, 10:33 PM

I think Boban is a big Milan fan, and having worn that jersey for so many years makes him have a sense of belonging to the red and black colours. And now seeing how this great club has been reduced to players who think they can do whatever they want makes him upset, upset and mad. I think we can all identify ourselves in those comments. And it's not just about Balotelli, but many other players as well.

Posted by: han2503 Nov 25 2013, 10:38 PM

Since we're talking about this here now, this is what Allegri had to say regarding the late to training reports

QUOTE
“There’s false news doing the rounds. It’s completely untrue that five players showed up late for training. I’d like to know who’s starting these stories. We have to try and win tomorrow but it won’t be easy as Celtic play well at home and in the last 11 matches, they’ve only lost two.

Either he's lying which he shouldn't be doing if they are in fact going late to training, or the media is spinning stories to create drama

Yes he should!! If it's true, he HAS TO deny everything otherwise the media circus will just go on for weeks.

But I'm not sure he knows if anyone's late, considering his substitutions I don't think he has a sense of time.

He denied it about five players coming late, but he confirmed the thing regarding Balotelli. He did come late.

Boban has been criticizing Balotelli for quite some time. As for the particular quote, he apparently said it on Sky.

Yes, Boban loves Milan and it hurts him to see what has become of his club. I remember him being one of the first Allegri-critics, citing that his system is bound to fail.

I'm curious. I don't remember this interview. What did Boban say exactly?

Apparently Boban never said any of that stuff about Balotelli. The comments were drawn from a fake Facebook account.

Not Seba Rosei, then. unsure.gif The only two other remaining Milan players that I can think of that went to World Cup 1998 André Cruz and Christian Ziege. Unless I am missing someone big.
