QUOTE (X-Offender @ Dec 19 2019, 04:38 PM) *
I think I made a case earlier of why I think he's rubbish.

My whole point in this argument is to point out that Piatek is a bad player. Obviously for a striker that is equivalent to not scoring. There are no good strikers that don't score.

Olivier Giroud scored once at World Cup 2018.

He was one of the players of the tournament as they won the thing.

Evident you hate Piatek and are biased against him. And that's ok (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

OK Danny, you're doing that thing again where you don't bulge against whatever argument. There are good strikers that don't score? Give me a break.

And for the record, Girodu is pretty mediocre.

I learned that from this forum. I don't think I've ever seen a single person ever admit they were wrong. Except me. I used to. Now I don't (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

We're playing so bad against Atalanta.

Even without Piatek starting we're still missing every chance we get. Who's your new scapegoat?

8 shots, 1 on target, who's the baddie now?

PS I don't mean to sound like I'm picking on you, because I think you're a decent guy, but I don't like any one player being blamed for this.

The club as a whole is deep in the mire, and no one individual is more responsible than anyone else.

Alright, when I said he's the main culprit I was clearly exaggerating. Still I remain solid on everything else I said, i.e. he's rubbish. Albeit, considering how this season has been going you could say that for everyone else on this godforsaken team.

I wonder if signing Ibra will do us any good at this point. It would have been one thing if the guy was in his early-to-mid 30s, but at 38? What's he supposed to do?

Indeed so, wish there was some sort of sign of progress somewhere but while we're mercifully staving off relegation form we appear doomed to midtable hell instead. Nowhere land.

The Ibra thing disturbs me. Like Han, I'm a huge huge fan, he's arguably one of the top 3 strikers overall of the past 20 years but a 38 year old on the wages he'd want feels, honestly, humiliating.

Thing is, Jermain Defoe came to Rangers at 36, and tbh he's been borderline world class - we had reservations about how well he'd do, but they were unfounded.

But there's a difference - unlike Ibra, we don't rely on Defoe - Alfredo Morelos, who Milan were once linked to (he's way too good for Milan now, he'd be out of Milan's price range), is our main striker, and Defoe is backup to him - it's Morelos we rely on as our main striker.

Ibra, on the other hand, at 38, would be the main man, and that's... awful, for a club of our standing.

So as much as I love him, it would be a massive nail in the coffin of Milan's already dwindling integrity.

We can say all we want, and I am not a fan of Ibra coming back band wagon, but his presence in the team will have an impact. Piantek will definitely benefit from him, as would the team as a whole.

The wages, his age and the fact that he has not played/trained since October means obstacles ahead.

With regards to Milan, the team is boring and the position on the table is well below our liking but is exactly where this boring team should be.

Silvios era has ended and along with it Milan. The Milan I loved and cheered for that is.

As a player coach for Piatek among others I'd have no issue with it, but he wouldn't be coming as that.

I think we lack proper management, that's about all. With experience and a good plan results would come and we could build our way up as long as it takes. But with this management? A non-existent president, two rookie legends who both showed countless signs of vanity but no true know-how and a hedge fund counting our every move so they can sell us to yet another adventure it really looks grim.

Yet, I believe things could still change fast.

We need Ibra more then ever. His winning mentality will once again bring in a champion in the team. Never mind his age, even if he turns out to be unable to perform with regularity he'll be sorely needed as a presence.

Next we should find a proper management tandem and fire Boban and Maldini ASAP. Only if we lack resources or options should be keep the duo and give them another chance.

The amount of bad decisions they've made is staggering. Piatek for one was a bad signing, for that kind of money and considering his limited ability. A row of questionable moves, be it in terms of quality (Rebić, Krunić) or prize (Leao, again Rebić), the inability to free us some space and money (Rodriguez, Biglia, Hakan, Castillejo), no real conception or feeling what the team needs and on top of it a poor choice of managers. It turns out they completely missjudged Gattuso who seems to be potentially a very good manager. Especially since they knew (obviously) that we cannot afford a more experienced coach who's won something like Conte or even Spalletti.

All wrong moves. So, the change should start from upper management. Then we should try find adequate replacements for our team. We need a rebuild.

Looks like Ibra is a done deal.

Personally, I'm happy to have him back. It might very well turn out to be a Kaka-bis, albeit unlike Kaka who was nearly finished at age 30, Ibra even at 35-36 was still a beast. So, here's to hoping.

He's nowhere near Kaka. Speed was always an integral part of Rickys game. Ibra on the other hand has still plenty to show for us at this moment. Naturally I don't expect him to score 20+ goals but he'll surely beat Leao's and Piatek's staggering goal total.

His recent stats remain awesome. I still have my concerns about us having to rely on a 38-year old. But I don't doubt his quality.

I guess my concerns are more symbolic. That we're having to be bailed out, for a high price, by a very old player.

tbh Pippo last season at a level not super far off Serie A these days (MLS is way better than it used to be) he scored 52 in 58.

He still has it. Very much.
