SUN, 30 MAR, 2008 - Serie A - AC Milan vs. Atalanta

KEEP ON TRYING

Posted by: Bluesummers Mar 22 2008, 06:42 PM

we have to win again!

Posted by: Darunia Mar 22 2008, 08:16 PM

They beat us earlier this season, time to avenge our loss. Nothing but 3 points will do.

I'd go with a similar lineup as today.

Posted by: Fillipo Simone Mar 22 2008, 09:23 PM

Why two Atalanta threads?

Anyway. Another must-win, but the Bergamo team cause us trouble occasionally. We have a strange history with them.

My prediction: 2:1 or 2:0 for us. Seedorf could score..

Posted by: Bluesummers Mar 23 2008, 08:07 PM

kaka should be back for this one

I'm hoping for a 3-1 win, but 2-1 or 2-0 is acceptable ...

Scorers;Pato, Kaka or Seedorf

Posted by: Darunia Mar 27 2008, 09:33 AM

A 1-0 win is acceptable.

Any win will do.

Our players should be decently rested, Pirlo, Gattuso played only a half vs Spain.

yep.

Pato played around 30 mins and I also think Seedorf played only in the second half (I'm not sure)

then, Nesta, Ambro, Paolo, Oddo, didn't play at all..... so it seems that we'll be fresh.

Posted by: Fillipo Simone Mar 27 2008, 11:09 AM

Guys, we gotta decide which of the two threads will be "the official Milan-Atalanta" one,.. unsure.gif

Posted by: jefri91 Mar 27 2008, 01:32 PM

I see a 1-1

Posted by: Tennie Mar 27 2008, 01:38 PM

Pippo may be recovered enough for the bench for this game -- there might be a little extra motivation for him to be fit enough for a (brief) appearance in this one as his kid brother plays for Atalanta.

I'd really like to see Pirlo rested - start him on the bench and put him on if needed - for this one. The poor guy's knackered.

There is only 1 thread. I deleted the extra one two days ago.

Posted by: zdrossoneri Mar 27 2008, 01:51 PM

Pato hasn't scored at home for quite a while [despite great performances]. I think he will grab one or two goals against Atalanta. especially now that he's flying high!

Posted by: rhy_A4 Mar 27 2008, 02:49 PM

2-0 Pato and Kaka' Goals

Posted by: Tennie Mar 27 2008, 08:18 PM

Here's Gazzetta's probable formation:

Kalac
Oddo Nesta Kaladze Maldini
Gattuso Ambrosini Brocchi
Seedorf
Pato Paloschi

Frighteningly uncreative with three defensive mids, but...Pirlo really needs the rest and can come on if things fall apart.

Here's the projected bench:

Dida
Jankulovski Favalli
Pirlo Emerson Gourcuff
Gilardino

Posted by: kurtsimonw Mar 27 2008, 08:23 PM

I do not like the idea of playing 3 DMs at home, it just seems so pointless. But Pato seems likely to score in every game he plays, 1-0 Milan. pato.

Posted by: Portikins Mar 27 2008, 08:34 PM

Gotta win, simply gotta win.

1-0. Patinho.

Posted by: KillerMax Mar 27 2008, 09:02 PM

Atalanta plays very entertaining football from what I've seen of them this season and I am expecting them to beat us. Maybe a draw... But with that line up... Just... Yeah..

Posted by: sansiro1708 Mar 27 2008, 11:30 PM

is kaka gonna make it?

Posted by: Tennie Mar 28 2008, 12:19 AM

I suspect not, sansiro1708. He did physical therapy today so is probably not going to play at the weekend. He may be back for the Cagliari game and will almost certainly be back for the Zebra game.

Posted by: paloschi43 Mar 28 2008, 01:12 AM

i would play this 11,

Kalac
Oddo Nesta Maldini jankulovski
Gattuso Pirlo Seedorf
Kaka
Pato Paloschi

Good, that's what I suspected too. No sense in rushing him in. It'd be better if he can rest Cagliari, and be back for the Juventus. Speaking of which, I just can't wait for that match. wink.gif

That probably means another match with that guy who calls himself Pirlo...

He needs to be rested. But Milan Kakaless and Priloless. Can we relay on just Clarence?

According to today's Gazza.

Our line up vs Atalanta

Kalac
Oddo Nesta Kaladze Maldini
Gattuso Pirlo Ambrossini
Seedorf
Pato Paloschi

Hope Paloschi starts but wouldn't be surprised if Gila does. Altho Gila has the "flu"

Posted by: Tennie Mar 28 2008, 06:25 PM

Hrm. Well, Gila recovered from his 'flu' enough to train with the team today and score a goal in the practice match, according to the 'today's training' piece on acmilan.com's italian page. He may get the start.

Bonera has recovered from his foot injury and also trained with the group, which to me is good news.

Pippo, Cafu, and Kaka trained separately.

To be honest I dont think we can finish 4th place.
Weve got a game with juve and inter. and no way we can beat them.
we can barely beat a team like atlanta and torino.

viola only have inter to worry about and thats it

If Inter keep up their sluggish form, then we stand a chance. We sleepwalked through Torino, but it'll be far easier to get it up for the derby.

A Very serious Message :

Pato: The agony and the ecstasy Sunday 30 March, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alexandre Pato gives himself “eight out of ten” for his performance so far this season and reveals the shocking illness that almost ended his career.

The Milan hitman started his campaign in January due to a legal loophole over his age, but has already netted seven Serie A goals.

“I give myself eight out of ten, but it would have been more if I had been able to score against Arsenal,” said the 18-year-old.

“I promise the fans that I will take Milan to fourth place. I am very happy here, as I have the most enjoyable job in the world.”

Pato is famed for always scoring on his debut – doing so for Milan, the Brazil youth team and earlier this week the senior Selecao squad too.

“I hope to keep that trend up and score in my first derby!” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

Pato debuted that goal celebration after his first Serie A goal – holding his hands up to create a heart.

“When I score, the heart is for my girlfriend Sthefany and the smile is for the fans. It is a nice gesture, as I like to be at peace with the world. Sthefany and I love each other and we want to get married, but not this year.

“It hasn’t been easy for me growing up without my family around me. At 16 I saw my mother five times in 12 months. It was tough for both of us, but I shall always thank them for giving me the opportunity to choose.”

Pato also revealed a shocking moment in his life that almost cut short his playing career before it had even begun.

“In 2000 I had a tumour removed from my left arm. I broke my arm when playing with a friend and they didn’t put the cast on properly.

“When they looked deeper into it they saw a tumour. The doctor Paulo Roberto Mussi operated on me and said if they’d caught it two months later my arm would have been amputated. I was very fortunate.”

This becomes annoying. The refs are doing a bad job.

Anyway, what was that in our defence? Hell, what did Favalli think of this? I'm really dissapointed. We've done a solid job, but our defenders are slow. Now we must give 100%. Most of all we miss, what the Germans call "zielsträbigkeit", determination up front.

This could end up real bad. We need to score till 55' and then do the measures to win if possible..

The problem with this team is not arrogance or how much they're paid.

It's the fact that our best players have been run so ragged that they don't even have the legs to run anymore. The fact that they are not young doesn't help.

Our bench is so bad that these players can't afford to be given a rest.

The fact that our coach has no more ideas left and everything he tries goes stale is also a big problem.

What we need is a big overhaul in the team. Guys like Favalli and Brocchi should be replaces by class players

It would be wise to shut up and watch the rest of this disaster or change the channel.

There's no need to make catastrophic predictions we all have eyes.

I feel the need to say only two more things -

1. disastrous defensive work. What are they doing? This is like a C-class pension defense!
2. If we wan't to fight till the last week, even if the difference jumps to 7 points, we need to make radical player selection. Put in Ba, he's not half of the player Gattuso is, but in this case we are desperate, searching for new ways and most of all we need motivation. Let Favalli out bring in Darmian. Bring in all the youngsters. Let all the players play, someone will turn out be good.
It's more amusing to see every time a new player make new mistakes, then allways the same players and mistakes.

HT - Favalli, Nesta and Seedorf out!

As boring as Jose's footbal maybe, I really couldn't see us being as bad as this if he were in charge. I can't remember the last time we played 'champagne' football anyway! It's time for a change and if there's no revolution in the summer then the management must take full responsibility.

Other players like Pirlo (Seedorf just shades it) imo deserve that spot just as much, but the fact that they don't even have the legs to run is a big factor, its not fair to them for us to judge them when they have been absolutely run ragged by the schedule we faced this season. Which in turn all falls down to the poor management we've been under. Galliani and co knew what shcedule we were going to face this season, but did they do anything to make sure that our squad qould be equiped for it??? Ofcourse not, that's why we are in this mess

Maldini is getting run ragged, this jack sparrow is why i questioned his presence on the pitch

Even though he obviously looks injured hes the only one trying.... except for a few

We're probably watching a different game... Favalli was our worst on the pitch along with Seedorf. And the first goal is his mistake...

Saying our defence played good is an understatement, that said Maldini was playing poorer than Favalli

Vieri scored. 1-1 Fiorentina.

Now we're 5 points behind.
