Toni: I signed for Milan
Friday 4 January, 2008

Azzurri striking star Luca Toni has revealed that he put pen to paper with Milan last summer before joining Bayern Munich.

The towering 31-year-old left Fiorentina for the Bundesliga for around £7m, but he had been contacted by a number of Serie A clubs during his time in Tuscany.

While interest from Inter and Juventus never developed into concrete offers, it now seems that Toni had practically signed for the world champions.

“Everyone knows that I nearly joined Inter two years ago and that Juventus were interested in signing me,” the ex-Brescia man told Il Giornale.

“However, with Milan it went a lot further – I had already signed a contract. I could also have been a Roma player as they nearly signed me when I was playing for Cisco Roma.”

Toni has impressed in the Bundesliga, despite Bayern’s recent woes, but he is still following Serie A with interest.

“Inter are the strongest side and they have a bit more than Roma and Milan,” he stated.

“The Nerazzurri are certainly a better side than the Rossoneri and it isn’t just the derby that shows us that.”

The Modena native’s thoughts then turned to Euro 2008 and Italy’s Group of death with France, Holland and Romania.

“I’m raring to go, but we can feel the responsibility on our shoulders,” he explained.

“It’s not a Group of iron as much as a Group of steel and we can get through. The important thing is to get to the game against France with qualification already assured.”

Toni concluded by giving the peninsula’s giants his tip for the winter transfer window.

“Sign Diego from Werder Bremen,” he commanded. “He is a very, very good player and one of the few fantasistas still around who can decide a game.”

Gila has nothing to do with this. Even with Gila we were still short on strikers. Calling Seedorf and Kaka strikers should be enough of a sign of how desperate we are in that department (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Oh right... I forgot about those, my mistake, I guess we never needed Toni after all (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Taking words at face-value "Seedorf and Kaka strikers" as Galliani has stated over and over (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) . He is responsible for this squad and if he said something of the sorts, then he said it for a reason, and not just for 'us' to make a joke out of him (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Gila has nothing to do with this ?! Are you sure ? I mean, had Toni actually transfered into Milan, Gilardino would be playing coppa Italia games with the performance that he has been putting in !!
Maybe this is my assessment of him and Carlo sees it differently, but fact remains that had Toni came to Milan, Gilardino would have no room.

Oh please, he said it so that no one would keep getting on his back anymare because we only have TWO striker on the roster that are able to play (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Of course no one is going to take it seriously when you keep trying to feed people and fans bullsh!t when you promised in the summer that changes to the squad will be made and more quality will be brought in.

Gila and Toni played great together for Italy under Lippi. No reason why they can't do it at Milan also. Yes they are both basically the same type of player but Toni can play out of the box more and Gila has enough technical ability to provide assists. But not when the other player is Pippo and the both keep getting in each other's way.

A big example of this was the friendly game against Germany, Gila and Toni combined for 3 goals. Also Gila played great with Sheva and Kaka in his first season and he was part of the best attack in Europe at the time with the ammount of goals him and the other 2 scored

So Galliani said Seedorf and Kaka were strikers so everyone can stop getting on his back about us not having sufficient strikers ?!

But do u think Galliani cares about what the on-lookers think ? As long as Milan is winning and bringing in trophies, I doubt he cares about what we think.

He doesn't even need to say anything .. I mean, there are several issues that he has yet to comment on, and he didn't up till now.

Give him the benefit of the doubt, for a change, cuz it is people like him that keep this team united. And it is not like he could predict Ronaldo was gonna be injured for half a season (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

On the Toni&Gila
Well, Italia plays differently than Milan .. I mean, if we were gonna go with that and take it as simply as it is seen then Pirlo should play up field where he is even more effective. And Gattuso should play on the left than on the right. hehe Nesta should retiere (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) .... Basically what I am saying is, Lippi's formation was different than Ancelotti's ... As well as their tactics, thus we cant draw conclusions 'as-is'

It's not about giving him the benefit of the doubt, it's about the fact that in the summer the fans were promised quality signings, and apart from Pato who is still unproven there weren't any quality signings made.

And yes he does care, when the media keep asking him about it or the ultras show their dislike in the transfers by staging protests, it effects him. Why else would he call a player like Seedorf a forward??? Going out in Serie A and CL matches with 2 regular team strikers and a primavera player to make up our attack is why he comes up with stuff like we have 5 strikers, Gila, Pippo, R9, Seedorf and Kaka. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

If we had more then 2 strikers called up in every game, he would never mention Seedorf or Kaka as strikers. Now you may believe he has some alternative reason to this but I can't see what that could be. He just doesn't want to edmit that he has been proven wrong and that Milan DO need changes and top quality players to be brought in

I don't think it has anything to do with the formation, some players have chemistry while playing with each other, some don't. Again looking back to when we had Sheva, him and Kaka were amazing when playing with eachother, no matter the formation or tactics, do you see Sheva having that type of partnership with anyone at Chelsea?
