AC Milan - Milanfan.com _ Archive 08/09 _ 35a Giornata - Udinese vs Milan

Posted by: dst May 13 2009, 07:30 PM

8th placed Udinese host 2nd placed Milan.

This game is to be played on Saturday May 16.

---

Hmm... I feel we're going to win this one comfortably. Udinese are a good team thought we should not underestimate them. I hope to see Ronaldinho play instead of Seedorf, Pippo and Pato to start up front and the duck to resume his scoring ways.

Yes unfortunately Dst beat me to the 'get out of the piranha tank free' card.
Oh well no worries... I hardly think I would have had much use for it, was looking to sell it on Ebay anyhow! tongue.gif

I think Milan would win this one too...
Lets hope Siena pull off an upset (and as much of a sore loser as I may sound by saying this, lets hope for some Injuries or Suspensions for the inter team) biggrin.gif

QUOTE
UDINE, AS ALWAYS
5/11/2009 11:07:00 PM
At Udine he made his debut, with Liedholm on the bench. Against Udinese at S. Siro, the party for the 20 years in football. Saturday again Udine: Paolo Maldini's 900th official match. Always with the Rossoneri shirt.

MILAN - Udinese, Udinese, and Udinese. When the big arms of football history embrace Paolo Maldini, here is once again the team from Friuli at the crossroads. It happened on 20 January 1985, the Sunday of the Serie A debut of Cesare's son, with a draw at the Stadio Friuli between Udinese and Milan. It happened on 16 January 2005, in the Sunday where Italian football celebrated the 20 years in football of the Rossoneri captain and former national team captain, with 3-1 victory against Udinese. It will happened again next Saturday, when Paolo Maldini will play his 900th official match with Milan's shirt. Where? At Udine, where else.

Perfect last night against Juventus, judged as one of the best Rossoneri players in the evening match, Paolo Maldini is playing with class and pride. Where the first quality starts and the second begins isn't known, as they are so intertwined. One thing's for sure: Paolo, as always, is at the service of the team. But his real strength is his self-respect. After the important matches he is playing individually, no one will ever say Cesare's son retired too late. Aerial play, runs: Paolo is still there, against anyone, who's next. He is ending his career as a world-class player at 41 years old.

Now it's time to write another piece of history. Where in 1985 there was Selvaggi, and now there is Quagliarella, the great Paolo Maldini achieves an incredible target. In the same stadium as his first official match, when he was worried about his oral test at school the next day, he will play his 900th. Four World Cups later, with a record amount of appearences with the national team, and a palmares with 26 titles (Italian, European, and World) won with his club. A transcendental champion, respected by everyone, Paolo Maldini is a precious good for football at all levels.

Today's training has taken place.

After warmups there was a rather involved ball possession drill. Following this was a practice game.

Nesta AGAIN trained with the team. 96.gif 96.gif 96.gif Borriello took part in the first part of training and then worked in the gym.

Tomorrow there'll be an early practice and then the prematch interview and call ups for the Udinese game.

I still think it'd be a mistake to have him play this season.

Fishdoll ugh. We've got Rizzoli to ref the game.

Here is Mediaset's projected lineup. Also ugh.
Milan (4-3-1-2): Dida; Zambrotta, Maldini, Senderos, Jankulovski; Flamini, Pirlo, Ambrosini; Seedorf, Kakà; Inzaghi.

I don't like the way Pato's been thrown away from the XI and become a late substitute after all he did over the season. hope I'm wrong and he starts this game, but I should've known not to think he was in Carlo's good books already.

Call ups:

Dida, Kalac, Perucchini
Zambrotta, Maldini, Senderos, Jankulovski, Darmian, Mattioni, Antonini
Flamini, Pirlo, Ambrosini, Gattuso, Cardacio, Seedorf
Kakà, Pato, Inzaghi, Ronaldinho, Shevchenko.

It boggles the mind why Pato is being treated this way. We've dominated when Seedork does not play.

Someone at R&B once speculated that Seedork must have some kind of dirt on Carlo. I'm starting to believe it.

prematch press conference, translation courtesy of acmilan.com's english page:

QUOTE
MILANELLO - These are the declarations of the Rossoneri's coach Carlo Ancelotti, who spoke today during a press conference at Milanello, on the eve of the clash against Udinese:

ON TOMORROW’S CLASH AGAINST UDINESE
“Tomorrow it will be an important game. The team knows what it must do: we want to reach as soon as possible the three points which will assure us of the mathematical qualification to the next Champions League. From now until the end of the season there are three difficult games and we don’t want to arrive to the match against Fiorentina in need of points. For this reason, we want to win tomorrow.”

ON THE TEAM’S MOMENT AND THE FORMATION AGAINST UDINESE
“The team is fine, apart from the two suspended players Favalli and Beckham, all the players are in a good condition for tomorrow.

“Dida has recovered, he will play tomorrow. In defence Zambrotta, Senderos, Maldini and Jankulovski. Midfield with Flamini, Pirlo and Ambrosini. Then there are three players for two places: Seedorf, Pato and Inzaghi (Kaka’s place is taken for granted).”

ON THE INDIVIDUAL PLAYERS
"Nesta started to work in the past week with the team, apart from continuing his specific work. He must still find an acceptable physical condition, but he could play before the end of the season.

“Borriello is more behind Nesta and I don't know if he will manage to work with the team before the end of the season. However, he’s in the recovery phase.”

ON THE SCUDETTO
“The key to Milan’s league for the Scudetto race is in the home game against Reggina which we drew on the eve of the derby and the injury to Kaka. We lost two important points in the standings and Kaka’s unavailability for two months was felt.”

ON UDINESE
“Udinese are a team in good form, they are coming from five consecutive wins and found the condition they had at the start of the season. Both Milan and Udinese are two teams who are going through a good moment. They have found back the velocity and quality in their game, a team that starts often counter attacks and takes advantage of the game of its attackers. It’s a very dangerous formation.”

ON THE TRANSFER RUMOURS AND HIS FUTURE
“There is no new news to what I said before and there is no Chelsea-Milan issue. There is a lot of fantasy talk, I’m at Milan and I think that it’s a big fantasy and grotesque to think that I can make a transfer market for a club who I’m not tied to. Tomorrow we’ll see what happens, I don’t think that in the case of a win anything will happen, but we'll see tomorrow. On Sunday I'm free and I can do what I want, actually I will be at my dad's home to celebrate his birthday. Obviously, at times it’s like I’m living at Big Brother….However it won’t last long because May 31 is close by to everyone and we shall arrive to it quickly.”

ON SILVIO BERLUSCONI’S DECLARATIONS
“I think that it’s useless to comment the declarations made by president Silvio Berlusconi or wait for a phone call because yesterday’s denial by the president was quite strong, therefore I believe that there is no need for any comment.

“The president had already spoke to Galliani when we were at Tirana and already back then the president had denied. I don't think that there is the need for a phone call from him to me.

“My rapport with the club is a good one, very warm and affectionate.”

ON THE RONALDINHO’S TRANSFER RUMOURS
“I did not speak to Galliani, but our will is that of holding on to Ronaldinho, but then if the player wants to leave for many reasons, we will evaluate.”

ON THE RAPPORT WITH GALLIANI
“With Galliani I have a very strong rapport, very warm. It’s been like this for a long time, it’s an attachment which consolidated in time, now we’re in perfect harmony.”

Posted by: MizNelson May 15 2009, 09:36 PM

It looks like he's totally black balled Dinho for some reason.

And I personally cannot believe that he would list Seedorf as the player that will fight for 1 of the 2 attacking positions, first of all if the midfield spot is opened becuase of Becks' suspension then that is were Seedorf should be played, in HIS NATURAL position, he has nothing to do with the striker and AMs, since he is certainly nothing close to that. Second, why aren't Dinho and Sheva concidered to either partner Kaka in midfield or partner Pippo or Pato in attack.

Both have showed that they are in far better form then Seedorf is. I'm just really fead up with this entire Seedorf cr@p. It's obvious he's not in form and he doesn't give a cr@p anymore, imo he should get an express ticket to the bench. But it will never happen because he is Seedorf, had this been any other player, I'm certain that he would be sitting in the stands instead of strting every week

Didn't that article get translated? Oops and Fishdoll blames dst-the-meaniehead for the lapse!

Before the friendly in Tirana, there was a prematch press conference with Ancelotti, Galliani, etc. One of the journalists asked Ancelotti about his future in light of the 'it's all carletto's fault' statement attributed that morning to Berlusconi. Ancelotti appeared - so the reports go - quite ready to answer the question but Galliani stepped in and answered for him, stating that he would 'answer for my friend Carletto'. This is what a lot of the English papers have picked up and are basing the 'Ancelotti to Chelsea' rumors on.

I think it's a fact that we have to sooner or later get over; as long as Carlo is the coach, it's going to be the same story about Seedorf. I think for the sake of our mental health (!) we have to forget about it.......

Thanks for the recap.

What really irks me about Galliani and Silvio regarding Carlo is that they clearly don't respect him, they don't give a cr@p about what he wants for the team that at the end of the day he is going to coach. They use him like a doormat, becuase they know he won't retaliate ala Mourinho.

I think the only reason they want to keep him on as coach is to satisfy their huge egos, they don't want tohand over some of the control of the club, transfer imo, should be left up to the coach.

I'm not a Carlo hater, even though I hate some of the choices that he makes, this to me is another reason why he should leave, Galliani and Berlu need someone to tell them to f off, if they want to make all the decisions then they should start coaching the team themselves.

I mean some of the things Galliani and even Silvio have said in the past regarding Carlo is just totally out of place and disrespectful to him as coach. For example, when Sheva was brought back, a journalist asked Galliani if everyone was happy with Sheva's return and he said, 'yes me and Silvio are very happy to have Sheva coming back' with total disregard to how Carlo felt about the entire situation, when at the end of the day has has to handle these players in the locker rooms, now I know Sheva is not a trouble maker, far from it, but others that have been brought it like Dinho, R9, etc tend to cause some problems when unhappy. I just think that it's high time we finally have a coach that is strong willed and can stand up to B&G, we haven't had that since Cappello

meh, it's not about hating Seedorf in the line-up so I should get over it, but the fact that he really is doing more damage to the team then good. So I can;t really get over it, because everytime I see him walking around on the pitch doing nothing but mis-placing passes I want to throw something at the screen. It's so frustrating swear1.gif

Dida
Flamini Maldini Senderos Zambrotta
Ambrosini Pirlo Jankulovski
Kaka
Pippo Pato

heh ronaldinho should leave if he does not start in every game from now until the end of the season ... because when ancelotti plays seedorf instead of ronnie ... so that means there is something wrong btw r80 and this headboof coach .... seedorf said that he had played a lot this season and that's true ... but the coach likes him and that sucks in sport ... if u are better then the other player but the coach doesn't like you ... you have sit on the fukn bensh ... and then u play the last 5 min to waste time .. heh .... ancellotti should leave ... or if he doesn't so dinho had to leave ....

Personally I don't believe that Berlo could be convinced into doing something that he's opposed to. But like you I don't know what happened, but if it's wasn't after Istanbul, then he had plenty of opportunites to fire Carlo after that but he hasn't.

His words in difficult times don't show that but he has claimed quite a few times in the past that he does not think he knows better than those that run the club and that they have to cool him down because he is impulsive. He has also said that Galliani, Baresi, Maldini, van Basten, Inzaghi and Kaka who he has had several talks with have convinced him over the years to change his decision about three different coaches. I'm sure one of those was Ancelotti at that particular time.

I'm not necessarily considering the Roma game to be a hard one considering what I saw this morning. They were leading Catania at the half 3-1, Catania tied it up, and they only beat them with a Panucci goal in added time.

By the way, the commentators on RAI are saying that if it had been anyone else, Maldini would've got a last man red for the (I don't think it was a ) foul. It was made a yellow as a sign of respect.

QUOTE
We Didn't Have The Right Attitude - Milan Coach Ancelotti

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti talked about his side's poor performance against Udinese, which handed the title to Inter.

A poor performance by Milan saw them lose 2-1 away to Udinese and hand the Scudetto to their bitter city rivals Inter.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti had little excuses to make for his side's display.

"These are the limits of this team, many times we fail to enter the match with the right frame of mind," he said to Gasport. "Tonight we were less reactive than usual, Udinese interpreted the match better and won deservedly.

"Did I expect it? No, the team were in a good moment, they gave me good feelings throughout the week but we didn't get into the match. Udinese were faster and more determined in the physical contrasts, that was the key to the game."

Ancelotti denied that the rumours surrounding his future had an influence on the players' performance.

"Absolutely not, we have this objective [the Champions League], there are three points left to get there," he continued. "Tonight we missed a chance, now let's try to fix things ahead of our next home game.

"My future? I don't want to add anything, I haven't decided anything. My future is tied to next week, we want to prepare well to earn three points. A victory today would not have changed anything."

Milan could see third-placed Juventus move within one point if they beat Atalanta tomorrow.

Could it be a sweet dream (personally speaking) on the verge of coming true? Carlo's comments on his future really sound suspicious...

Posted by: Tennie May 16 2009, 11:02 PM

Fishdoll thinks the farewell speeches and articles have already been written, zeddie.

His only concern is whether there's anyone out there (aside from Capello and Sacchi, both of whom are not available) who's really capable of turning the team around at all quickly.

---

Here are datasport's ratings. Dida got the highest.

In fase difensiva è troppo svagato.
Seedorf 4 Il solito trotterellare senza capo né coda.
Shevchenko s.v.

Anyway, Dida must've done really well if Datasport rated him a 7.

Posted by: MizNelson May 17 2009, 02:21 AM

I could be wrong as it's just my observation, but does it seem that Kaka's play has suffered considerably ever since the Manchester City rumors were finally put to rest?

Posted by: Habitant May 17 2009, 02:42 AM

"After nine consecutive useful results, Milan stumble against an excellent Udinese, because of two debatable refereeing decisions."

is there any other club site in the world that spews that kinda garbage, and actually rationalizes every result? we get it from silvio, galliani, carlo, etc. it's really sickening. i dont care if the decisions were questionable, it's unprofessional to state that kinda stuff and make such pathetic excuses.

wow..we lost..im not surprised looking at how we played against Juve...The thing is i just don't know if Milan are scared to kick out Carlo....Our players were unmotivated..Very dissapointing i must say...Silvio should just make up his mind and kick Carlo out...also the players that WE DON'T NEED...Seedorf was horrible again today...Can't milan see that the players aren't getting any better or even any younger...Guys really Carlo needs to go...Even madrid did beta than us...They won 19 straight games to try and get closer to Barca but eventually lost to Barca...Carlo needs to go...even when we win, most times its by winning luckily...I wish Silvio can close their eyes and fire him...of course Rijkaard was in harmony with the club and so was Ronnie but they were supplement....Our supplements are Seedorf, Sheva, senderos, kalac, ronnie (dissapointing), definitely Carlo, ....When can this team be like the Barca's, man u's,....All ma friends be celebrating with their respective clubs and me on d sideline be suffering...Milan fans have really suffered..Honestly, we have really suffered...I think Berlusconi owes it to us to win the championship, champions league, and coppa italia...speaking of Coppa Italia, when was d last time we won that? GOD HELP MILAN BUT ESP BERLUSCONI IN MAKING THE RIGHT DECISION IN KICKING OUT CARLO AND MAKING MILAN FANS HAPPY AGAIN B/C WE CERTAINLY AREN'T AT ALL

I don't get one thing, haven't we already qualified for the CL? why everyone (eg Kaka) keeps saying we can't miss out on the CL? we couldn't finish worse than fourth even if we wanted.

QUOTE (Tennie @ May 17 2009, 02:32 AM) *
Fishdoll thinks the farewell speeches and articles have already been written, zeddie.

His only concern is whether there's anyone out there (aside from Capello and Sacchi, both of whom are not available) who's really capable of turning the team around at all quickly.

Essie honestly thinks there are other coaches on planet who can take the job! he also thinks Carlo's departure will act as a big shock to the team and that could make the new coach's task easier.

I could be wrong as it's just my observation, but does it seem that Kaka's play has suffered considerably ever since the Manchester City rumors were finally put to rest?

I don't think so... Kaka has been on and out of form all season long. he had an inconsistent season IMO.

Well, that was quite the dissapointing game. IMO, I think our players looked quite tired. Maybe the friendly had an effect?

Anyways my ratings:

Dida: 7 He played quite well, and I will take back what I said about him earlier. He is getting back to his best.

zamb: 5 Terrible game, probably the worst of the season.

maldini: 6 very unlucky with the penalty call, but overall decent.

senderos 5 Lucky on various occassions. I smell a kaladze in the making.

janku: 5 not a good night for him.

Pirlo: 4 terrible passing, he was just not into it today.

ambrosini: 6.5 worked hard but could have done so much better, credit to him for our goal.

flamini: 6 worked hard and was unjustly subbed when we all know someone else should have been subbed instead.

seedorf: n/a no comment.

kaka: 5 very poor game by his standard.

Pato: 4 Well we all know he can't do anything up there by himself so his performance was expected.

Inzaghi: 4 he should have started instead of someone.

sheva n/a

dinho 5 some slick passing but he couldn't do much.

carlo: 2 What was he doing.......

Looks like Carlo wants to give the Scudetto to Inter on a silver platter.

Ridiculous choice, imo to bench Pippo in favour of Seedorf or an extra DM

No further comment, THANKYOU

As dst said, we have Udine to thank for maybe having Carlo removed at the end of the season. As soon as the harder games have started coming we are stumbling, how's that for the amazing form we've had rolleyes.gif

Lol @ Seedorf . laugh.gif

I'm really frustated , why dosen't Carlo leave ??? devilsmiley.gif I know he will miss his true love Seedorf but that's alright , he can take him with him and even spoil Chelsea . huh.gif . I really wish now that we just ( Have we already ? ) qualify for the Champions League , while putting in crap performances so there's no other option than Carlo leaving , why doesn't he learn from God , he's leaving with love and respect , why doesn't this prick follow him ??? ( Oh and yeah , I almost forgot - he would not get that respect which Maldini will get ; he doesn't deserve it )

swear1.gif swear1.gif swear1.gif Go away Carlo , we don't need you , let me have the guts ( yeah , guts ) to atleast say thanks to you for finally ( what finally ??? ) leaving . Maybe the players were tired because of the friendly but no , Carlo has to leave . I hope Milan fans do a Kaka to Manchester City for Ancelotti to leave ( oh.....how could we forget seedorf ) . mellow.gif

I know I've written this crap for nothing ; I know he won't leave , that bald head loves him too much ( co-incidence ? , yes , Seedorf is bald too ) , I just had to post something , for expressing myself , cause i was in a really bad mood . Go Carlo , just go . ( I don't know how I controlled myself there of saying something abusive ) huh.gif

No seriously I'm beginning to think our 'good form' was due to playing mid/bottom table teams? look at the names we played and defeated in that good period: Atalanta - Siena - Lecce - Chievo - Torino - Palermo - Catania... they're hardly tough opponents huh.gif

Excatly what I'm saying, the minute things have gotten tough we're right back to were we were a couple of months ago, let's see what happens now against Fiorentina and Roma, Carlo will continue to be stubborn and play the xmas tree with Seedorf and we'll most probably draw or lose both games

Posted by: Warchant May 17 2009, 06:42 PM

well, it was a good season....hopefully we can wrap things up with a 2nd place finish. luckily, juve is struggling just as bad as us.

honestly, after last season, i wasn't expecting to be this close to inter at the end of this season. still disappointing, but things could have been a lot worse this year.

compare to last year things could have gone REALLY REALLY bad this season.

should be an interesting summer to watch. is carlo gone? will we finally get some good, younger talent? will we actually fill the holes that need to be field?

how will this team look and feel without maldini sad.gif

We might have beaten those teams but I reckon the reason we beat them wasn't because they were mid/bottom teams but because we payed two forwards and no seedorf. It is very noticeable how our play is better without seedorf.

Well Seedorf played in some of the games, but again we won because those team weren't really that big of a challenge, Pippo's purple patch and Kaka having a couple of really good games before going back to his slump against Juve

We were managing to win in spight of having Seedorf on the pitch, mostly because of 2 players and none of the teams we faced actually playing that well to threaten our defence

I think people need to drop the "Carlo plays Seedorf because he loves him" angle.

There's no love lost between the two of them at all.

There must surely be a reason why he plays him though? If it's because he thinks he's good enough to start, then surely that makes him a bad coach, because he quite simply isn't as results show.

Posted by: MizNelson May 18 2009, 01:48 AM

I have no idea, but whatever the issue is, it's too black and white to simply dismiss it as Seedorf being teacher's pet.

Posted by: Minami May 18 2009, 05:43 AM

to the point of qualifying for CL:

of course we're qualified for CL as long as we reach 4th place, but we won't have to win all these preliminary rounds to get into the group stage. although i don't now exaclty if we'll be directly in the group stage when we finish 2nd....

I don't think anyone who says this really means it!

To me there's one obvious reason: he's waaaaay too cautious, so much that he can't even imagine a Milan side without his regulars, especially Zee, Kaka, Pirlo, Rino. no matter what form they're in and how they perform, they're always guaranteed of a starting place, unless they cannot play due to suspension or injury. he cannot change, hence he cannot be a SAF. look at the backbone of the team, it's pretty much the same as 6-7 years ago, and it's not working as effective as then. that's why I, and perhaps many more on here, want Carlo gone, because as ong as he's here, the player(s) in question will always play no matter what.

It's easy for Inert to brag about Milan's "zero tituli" when they've bought Serie A for the past two years straight. When all's said and done, Inert will wind up causing more damage than Juventus ever did. Calciopoli: The Sequel is looming on the horizon.

ESPN has no right broadcasting football matches anyway, considering how little they know - or care - about the product.

For what it's worth, Milan were ranked the lowest of ALL the Serie A teams by Gazzetta after last weekend's matches, with a ghastly rating of 4.

Udinese, at 8.5, were second behind Inert (9).
