Delio Rossi will not fight to keep Massimo Oddo at Lazio and will accept the player’s decision if he leaves.
The 29-year-old defender has made no secret of his desire to leave the capital, with Milan ready to make their final offer for the world champion.
Coach Rossi is aware that forcing the player to stay may be counterproductive, causing a lack of motivation.
“If Oddo wants to leave I will not force him to stay,†said the tactician, who is preparing the team for the Coppa Italia match against Rende on Sunday.
Reports are suggesting that Milan have offered Biancocelesti £2.5m, along with one of Dario Simic and Cristian Brocchi.
Rossoneri winger Pasquale Foggia was also mentioned as an alternative option to in any potential swap deal.
However, President Claudio Lotito has valued the defender at £6m and does not intend to sell him off.
Oddo has also been courted by Liverpool, Monaco and Real Mallorca, whose bids were all rejected.
Rossi has suggested a number of replacements for Oddo, should he finally complete his transfer.
The first name on the tactician’s list is 20-year-old Marco Motta, currently contracted with Udinese in a co-ownership with Atalanta.
The youngster’s agent Antonio Dell’Aglio didn’t confirm any contact with the capital club, but did admit that Motta would be thrilled to play for Lazio.
“We’ve only read the news in the papers, I haven’t spoken to any club official yet,†the agent told Roman network Radio Spazio Aperto.
“All I can say is that Marco considers Delio Rossi his teacher, he worked with him two years ago at Atalanta and would be glad to play for such an important side.â€

I'd say this is the first good news from the transfer market in months. I hope that this is not again one of those damn rumours, and in the end it's just...well you know...

QUOTE (arivanjj @ Aug 17 2006, 12:20 PM) that's defintley good news, but which one is it gonna be; tevez, sobis or torres? I'll give my vote to Torres, but, as mentioned above, Galliani and Leonardo are leaving for Brazil to sign either one between Tevez and Sobis. But anyway, finally some good news.

I really hope Oddo comes I keep reading that we are close to landing him, hopefully it's true and not like all the other rumors.
