Things change Dru. If you can't handle that change, then it is best you walk away.
We know this isn't the Milan we'd expect them to be, but support is through thick and thin, not just when they're 'good'.
Sure you can start loving during a great period, but support is when it's so entrenched in your veins you can't walk away when the drought periods happen.
It seems this forum is very divided on this.
I don't expect us to always be competing with the big spenders of every era. Quite frankly I think it's obscene to see some of the ridiculous amounts of money paid in transfer fees, wages, endorsements etc etc. But then again I am not very materialistic (I hope).
What I find INEXCUSABLE is the lack of AMBITION and DRIVE in the club. There are many paths to success in the football world. You could BUY it like Manchester City (AND United don't fool yourself), Chel$k!, Real Madrid and P$G.
However these clubs tend to have a low rate of return in terms of silverware for their outlay of capital. There is also the Dortmund, Atletico (not so much) and Arsenal model of using very good scouts and finding young gems who can and often do blossom into players that drive the club to success.
Then there's the Barcelona/Bayern model that makes extensive use of their youth products but also spend their money on guaranteed superstars.
There are numerous other permutations of the three basic models that can yield success. Even if actual silverware is produced, the club plays attractive football, maintains a proliferating fan base, boasts a roster of exciting players and is competitive on numerous fronts.
There is ABSOLUTELY no reason why Milan can't/shouldn't be in any of the above situations....all of which are acceptable.
BUT INSTEAD WE
- Quickly get rid of our youth talents (Aubameyang is the most recent and most depressing)
- Look for "rotten apple" players ...bad attitude/mentality/work ethic etc
- expired players
- "free transfers" that we attract with ginormous wages
- disregard anything resembling ambition from our coach...and insist on yesmen and line towers
- wait an eternity to get our transfers instead of consolidating our team
- do not explore creative and innovative means of raising money
I could go on. But if my post is TL/DR We are basically upset about the DIRECTION the club is heading as opposed to the CHANGES in themselves.
