QUOTE (MizNelson @ Apr 14 2008, 07:28 AM) True. It's like global warming; we knew it was coming but chose to finally get all concerned about it only when it actually happened. Concerned, yes, but... Earth is in danger, we need to do stuff! this message is approved by dst. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

True. It's like global warming; we knew it was coming but chose to finally get all concerned about it only when it actually happened. Winning the CL last year only stalled the rebuilding process for a year (you know the age-old mantra in sports about not breaking up a championship team). Now that we're actually at risk of missing the CL next year, B&G will spend huge on big-name, out-of-form quick fixes (i.e. Dinho, Sheva) instead of getting to the heart of the problem. If that's to be believed, that bugs me more than our sluggishness during this stretch of the season. [/quote] took the words right outa my mouth.

QUOTE (MizNelson @ Apr 14 2008, 08:28 AM) QUOTE (Tennie) It may come as a surprise to some, but I agree with Porty's comment. Milan has become too arrogant for its own good. This season will hopefully kick some humility into the team. True. It's like global warming; we knew it was coming but chose to finally get all concerned about it only when it actually happened. And I see a lot of sense in that. On hindsight, it's easy to point fingers, as easy as it is to criticize. Let's just say Ronaldo had played in at least 80% of the games this season, and Kaka and Seedorf were at their best against the crunch games against Arsenal. And how about Kalac not showing his true colors too soon .. Plus lets consider Gilardino scoring 20+ goals. Now would you still be concluding that there is a problem !? On hindsight, it's easy to point fingers, as easy as it is to criticize. No breaking up was needed. But even the greatest car needs to be checked and refueled every now and then... anyway... this is all in the past now. Let's look into the future...

QUOTE (august_milan @ Apr 16 2008, 12:17 AM) k i got a question that i havent read anyone bring up yet. if fiorentina with the uefa cup and finish 4th in the league they already automaticaly go to qualifying stages for champions league from wining the uefa cup so if milan finish 5th will they become italys 4th team in the champions leauge? kinda like when liverpool won the champions league and finsihed 5th in the league they went to qualifying for the champions leauge n england had 5 teams in it?. and anyone explain how this would play out? No. 5th place means we won't be in the CL next season no matter what the Viola accomplish in the UEFA Cup. The Everton and Liverpool case was a very different one. The FA told UEFA that they wanted their 4th team in (Everton) and not the CL winners (Liverpool) but UEFA (and the sponsors) wanted Liverpool no matter what ($$$) so...
