I'm not saying money is everything... but achieving more targets while spending MUCH less is something!

I do agree there.

Chelsea could have spent much less on getting the same players. They just over-bid for players to fend off other teams, and save a bidding war.

I can't say I'd hate to see Milan throwing that kind of cash around. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

QUOTE
Mourinho complained about a penalty that wasn't awarded in the 50th for a handball on Alvaro Arbeloa, although television replays indicated he was outside the area.

Maybe you and Mourinho see something different, but the rest of the world doesn't.

QUOTE
"It is a handball for sure," Mourinho said. "That is no doubt. If he is inside the box it is a penalty, outside it is a free kick, but it was handball 100 percent."

Okay, even Mourinho isn't sure it was INSIDE the area, must just be you then.

Chelsea have spent alot, yes.

United are just as bad, they've spent MORE than Chelsea in the last 6 years, but no-one accuses them of 'buying the league'.

Rooney - £25m
RVN - £20m
Carrick - £18m
Veron - £20m
Ferdinand - £30m
Ronaldo - £12m
*

Errr...

Crespo £17m
Mutu £16m
Carvalho £13m
J.Cole £6.5m
Ferreira £13m
Bridge £7m
Cech £9m
Veron £15m
Makelele £16m
Shevchenko £30m
Drogba £24m
Essien £24m

I've actually got bored listing them, but there is no way Man United have spent more on players! Chelsea have bought the league, yes Mourinho is good but he wouldn't have won the league at Chelsea prior to Abramovich.

I haven't seen that replay but I guess you're right... I didn't mock you though. In any case, a handball near the penalty area is not as far from a penalty as you suggested.

Man United didn't need to spend big (I mean, like Chelsea) in the last 2-3 years because they already had a top team. Chelsea no. They were an average team and Abramovich wanted impact right from the moment he took Chelsea.

Now... you won't see Chelsea buying a big list of names every summer. Nor United. Nowadays they don't need it. Just like Milan or Inter. It's 2-3 new players for X,Y,Z position and it's ok. Nothing like 5-6 superstars... 100M/euros per Summer like Abramovich did.

Ok, I apologize then. My original post was a bit of an exaggeration.

Does someone know the spending numbers of Milan, Inter, and Juve in the last couple years?
