QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ Oct 5 2006, 11:35 PM)
Well, I really don`t like van Basten as a coach. Especially not as a dutch NT coach. You can call me an old fashioned one, but I think the position of a NT coach should be offered to experienced sucessfull internationals, or at least some of the top league coaches. A argument was mentioned here where someone said Seedorf expected to be called up only cause his name. But thats it, thats exactly why MvB got that job! Do you honestly think he would get it, if his name was Marco van der Beer or something like that?? Has Van Basten done anything to desereve this position? I don`t think so...

As for the WC campaign...I have nothing to say, just dissapointment. Nothing else. Holland played disgusting football that would offend anyone who watched the old dutch "total football" style (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) . And I did not see anything in that team. No youth, no inecperience, no strenght, nothing...it wasn`t even that young (the team). Just one name - Robin van Persie. That`s all...so, let MvB go, bring someone decent... (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif)

The same goes to Donadoni. Ukraine should be his last chance, no mercy to him also...

Totally agree with everything you said.

As for Donadoni, I was one that defended him and said that he needed time to settle in, but look at the call ups he's made again, he dropped 2 players that both where great performers in the last 2 games Italy played, but still called up someone like Di Natale, Del vecchio (and did he call up Semioli? can't remeber), these are players that won't give anything to the team.

Ok Di michele is good, but not good enough to give support to the NT strikers. like Cassano and DP would, ok he called DP but I just don't think he has it in him anymore to play in the support striker position, imo Cassano and Gila should have kept their place in that squad, I'm not even saying give them a start but it is always better to have 2 world class players as your subs then 2 inexperianced players.

Donadoni had been handed a squad that already had great chemistry with eachother because of the work Lippi did, if I where him I wouldn't have messed around with a tried and true formula.

Well, that is your opinion .. But remember that Van Basten and Rijkaard both have BIG names .. The later won two consecutive league titles and a CL. Why cant MVB do it .. ?!

It's different ... ten Cate was the real manager ... unless you actually believe that little student became the teacher in just a single year !! Roles are not exchanged that easily !!

Still MVB might do it ... I can't see why not !!
