He might make them mediocre again. Which is a serious threat to our 8th place ambitions.

In all honesty though, I think he's a good choice for them. I don't rate him, but he's much better than Mazzarri. Plus he knows the club well.

Inter have the same problem we do - they can't attract a genuinely world class manager.

So they have to make do with the same old names or rely on what us Scots call 'the Old Pals Act'.

At least Mancio is proven and has won some silverware in Italy and England. The most experienced coach we've signed after Ancelotti has been Allegri, and his only record was a Serie C1 promotion with Sassuolo. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Being coach of the year was surely his best achievement, not many clubs in Italy actually win things. Prandelli and Guidolin are 2 of my favourite coaches over the past 5 years or so, but neither have actually won anything in Italy really.

At least Mancini has actually done something. Mazzari isn't all that great either but at least he's not a complete and total novice like Leo, Seedorf and Pippo were/are

Prandelli is someone I've always rated, however I do think that all that praise he received for the Euros got to his head, his "tinkering" with the tactics and formations during the world cup was nothing short of shambolic. Tried to be too smart for his own good

Always admired what Guidolin has achieved over the years, however I do think that he's one of those coaches that thrives at doing well with the smaller sides.

If we want to do anything half decent in the near future and we're not going to be spending any money to do it then we need a top class coach. At the moment we have a sub-par squad with a clueless coach steering the ship. It's really not any wonder as to how we're finding ourselves in this situation once again

Agreed. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) With pretty much everything you've said above, and particularly this!

From next season each club's roster shouldn't exceed a maximum of 25 players, 4 of which must have been grown up as footballers in Italy and 4 from within the club. Under-21 players can be registered freely.

Link

Hopefully that also means no longer ridiculously large jersey numbers.

Never mind the jersey numbers (I don't think it will affect this aspect anyway). But it will help younger players and homegrown players to find some breathing space which can only benefit Italian football.

Or it will free us to cut down the last of any quality we have in the team and frees up more space for the free agents
