Nah, it's the correct decision.

Any players and coaches that knew him wouldn't really be in the right fram of mind to play and it's not fair on them. I remember the Premier League got a lot of bad press when Gary Speed died and they allowed Swansea/Villa to go ahead, when players on both teams were quite clearly upset and not right to play.

Agreed.

I was obviously disappointed to tune in finding the game had been postponed, but the day football becomes more important than life itself, which is the suggestion some are making here, is a sad day indeed.

Perspective chaps - a footballer died on the pitch today - it will affect the frame of mind of every player out there. Like Kurt here says, the Speed thing is particularly notable - seeing Shay Given in tears isn't really a good way to present football.

Right decision, and RIP to him and condolences his family.

Football's just football.

Losing a life is completely different, yes people die everyday but they don't die everyday in football and this is the correct decision.

So?Do you think people that die outside of football are insignificant to stop a match for?I just don't get your logic at all.If the game postponed was between teams that were heavily related to him then I'd understand...

I don't know, but I still feel it's a drastic decision.

Will it apply to just today's games or all weekend games?

All weekend games.

most probably games will be played on 17th and 18th.

Yes

I understand this sucks for football. But people so sad about it,and crying, should grow up imo and face facts...People die everyday...

Anyone who's sad about this should grow up?

God, some of the attitudes I hear these days make me slightly sick tbh.

What are you on about?

People die everyday, that's apart of life, obviously. Though when you die in a sport, like in the Italian League it's the correct call to postpone the games as a mark of RESPECT.

I'm sorry but I find it disgusting that little fans are getting in a tizz because they're not watching one game of football. When a guy has lost his life in this league and obviously players, families etc are going to be affected.

R.I.P. Morosini

At first I was pissed they'd called off all games, but I do believe it was the right decision.

Why are you making the assumption that by playing football today,we're undervaluing the life of this lad?

Would it affect the frame of mind of every player?I'm not sure, maybe the people who were related to him,but then again I won't make the assumption that he was or was not related to many players from Serie A,or whatever. It's another sad day for football, that's for sure though.

Ok,fair enough. That's your opinion.I don't think there is anything to speak bout anymore.

And,yes I was bit sad about not being able to watch the game, but that has nothing to do with why or why not this game should have been pospotned.

I don't know what to say, other than it was the right decision to call off the games, and RIP to Morosini and condolences to his family & friends.

In the meantime, we can have a few days more days to get better prepared for the next game and that can't be a bad thing given our tight schedule. I'm sorry and it sucks that a player had to die for this opportunity to arise for us, but that's how the world works. it's NEVER been a fair place and never will be.

Wow, this guy had a truly dramatic life. Lost his mother in 2001, his father in 2003 and his disabled brother some time later. A life ended in the worst way possible. Just terrible. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

So presumably when Dan Wheldon died in the Indy 500, the race should have carried on? The match with Morossini should just have carried on? None of the other matches should have been postponed?

I really, really object to your phrasing there. I think I know what you are getting at, but your wording is abysmal.

You aren't using the right logical steps here.

A player died in Italian football - Italian footballers get the weekend off to mourn.

A guy died where my dad used to work a few years ago - everyone got the following day off.

It's not stopping football because of a death, it's stopping football because some of these people are good friends and colleagues of the person that died. It's the right decision.
