Don't think he's as good as Janku in defence. He's a winger.

Janku is a fairly bad defender and Abate does not seem much better, at least he did not whenever I watched him play. I don't think he can play at RB.

QUOTE (dst @ Feb 19 2009, 02:05 PM) Janku is a fairly bad defender and Abate does not seem much better, at least he did not whenever I watched him play. I don't think he can play at RB. +1 But then again, I'm terrible in judging young wingers abilities to play as fullbacks. And Milan on the other hand made a half-decent job with Janku and a really decent with Serginho. I know he wasn't the god of LB's, but he was class..what a pitty he had to fight Ro Carlos in the NT.

Serginho was bad defensively too and I remember crying about his incompetence at the back but his runs upfront more than made up for this. Janku is nowhere near him offensively.
Carlos was much better than Serginho in my view.

The Primavera beat Atalanta's primavera 2-0 (goals by Ikande and Pasini) to qualify for the primavera coppa italia semifinals.
Also of note, the Giovanissimi C (where Christian Maldini plays) continues to win and not concede goals. They're still in first place in their division.

Too bad we can't get any specifics of the players...is it truly a new golden generation?

No real idea, Jack. All I can ever find about the Giovanissimi is the results and (I think next month maybe) the odd article in Forza Milan.

Can they really be that good? It does not mean that they will evolve into great players but still, it's amazing what those kids do. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

So the Giovanissimi C won the Torneo di Gallipoli (traditional tournament held this time of year for the age group). They beat the baby cugini 4-3 on penalties and a Milan player (Matteo Gargantini, a midfielder) won the fair play award for the tournament. (they went through the tournament without conceding in regular time and only let in the penalties).
Yay for the baby rossoneri!

Our youth squads seem to bring in good results lately. Let's hope some of those kids are going to play successfully for the senior squad too.

Not all of 'em, dst. The primavera are suffering this year. The Berretti seem to be doing well though. The big stars, however, are the Giovanissimi C (the team young Maldini plays on).
