I do agree with him that France is one of the main culprits for using players born outside of France, but yes, a passport means nothing, you can get one from anywhere if you live there long enough!
*

Players that were born outside France are only Desailly, Vieira, Makelele and Mavuba! The West Indies are French.

And I didn't say passport means nothing, I said it sets you your nationality.

The only thing that sets your nationality in my opinion is your birth place. Passport just sets your citizenship - which according to FIFA rules also allows you to play for that country. I

I don't rate my passport very highly, in fact, it's expired and I have yet to get a new one!

It's not the point, I just didn't say it's worth nothing, and for the record I think according to the law your nationality is what your passport says, I could be wrong though.

By the way, Desailly and Makelele came to France when they were 4 years old, Vieira when he was 8, and Mavuba was born in the international water due to civil war, so technically he doesn't have any nationality and chose the French because he grow up in France.

I wish I could, Hanna!

I'm going to be watching the games, though! Hopefully I'll be able to get into the local footie pub I like (lovely place, owned by a Welshman) for a game or two, though they fall in the middle of my workday for the most part. May have to schedule a couple of sick days....

Then at the moment I have no nationality. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

But it's not that important really. If FIFA say you can play for a country, you can. Not for me to decide.

One again you fail to understand what I mean (maybe my English is too bad though).
You should be saying all those things to me but to Habitant. For your consideration This is what I tried to say, your nationality depends on what you passport says, therefore all the French NT are French, there no need to label them it as an African team unless you don't like the players colour.

It has to do with the U.S. sprinter or basket ball U.S. team players because the likes of Kobe are from African decent and the same goes for the Dutch players whom parents are from Surinam. Please read again what I wrote and try to understand what I really meant ...
*

i never said anything about race, color, etc.

Malouda: French Guiana
Claude Makélélé: Congo
Thuram: Guadeloupe
Vieira: Senegal
Éric Abidal: Martinique
Jean-Alain Boumsong: Cameroon
Patrice Evra: Senegal

these are all recent call ups so we could easily name others that dont play play anymore.

franch guiana and Guadeloupe are considered "part" of france because they're economy is too weak and they have to use the euro.

i mean common if it was that easy to pick people that speak the same language to come for your nation why doesnt Spain start snatching Argentinians, Peruvians, Colombians, etc?

i can understand having one or two of these players that weren't actually born or raised in your country to play for the national team but too many of the French players aren't FRENCH but AFRICAN and SOUTH AMERICAN and thats a fact you cant deny, they just happen to speak the same language.

come on whats the point of even having a euro? lets call it off since the notion of a nationality seems to be so ambiguous.

I guess Van persie should play for Germany because his greta great great great great great great grat father was part of the ancient Teutonic royal guard of emperor Frederick II...

I didn't know that Boum, evra weren't born in France though (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

Xenophobia has nothing to do with race ...

You spoke about nationality? Are you sure? Because you may not know that all those players are actually French!

What do you mean about euro? The currency?

Some of the west Indies are French as simple as that, just like Surinam is Dutch, just like 50 years ago Algeria was French!

it's called Hyperbole... forget it..

what i'm saying is whats the point if your descendants are not from that country, your not born there but you lived somewhere later in your life...

i mean i guess maybe i should move to france and get a citizenship so i can be french? would i be deep down? well thats up to you.

in the end you can have your own opnion but to call me xenophobic thats being ignorant.
