last night I didn't have time to comment...

first of all special thanx goes to Andrea Pirlo for his "man of the match" performance (he lost tha ball 80% of the time and the worst he lost the ball when Cesc scored....Do you need anything else to make him "MOM"?)

second, I still look at it as Carlo 0-2 Wenger.
Wenger outclassed Carlo by putting pressure on midfilders especially Pirlo and eventually stopping Milan in general.

third, Pato played good overall but we could easily see his lack of experienc smthing that led to missing his best oppurtunity of the match (early 1st half)

fourth, Kalac could have stopped that ball if he was a bit faster.

and finally, I hope Silvio was dissapointed with this loss and will tell everyone during the summer WHO'S MILAN!!!!!!!!

QUOTE (han2503 @ Mar 5 2008, 01:27 PM)
And what p!sses me is the fact that instead of admitting that there is a problem, they continue to try to feed fans cr@p and continue to treat them like idiots.

Either they change things around or we could be looking at a bleak few years and it would be all the management's fault for their poor mangement.

All the excuses, and I'm sure there will be promises of new signings, and what will happen next season? We'll get guys like Ferrari because he's free and bring Oliveira and Boriello from loan. I'm not even expecting a decent replacement for Paolo at this point. It has gotten to a beyond rediculous point now
*

What disgusts me most is that instead of optimistic words for the fans, he always come out with the worst explanations in situations like this... (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/realmad.gif)

Ahh the after effects of our champions league exit.

Fabregas goal? It was in the bottom corner, which is always hard to get down to. He probably should have saved it, but Kalac has been probably our best player over the last month. And again he made crucial saves to deny arsenal during the night.

Too be honest I also wasn't that disappointed when the goal went in. I think arsenal were the better team on the night. They created the better chances, but besides that the game was quite balanced. And maybe with a little more form we could have scraped through. But I think we've maximised the success out of this group of players over the past 6 years. It's time for a change and as much as I love carlo, its time to change it up.

As far as transfers. Our core is pretty limited. Obviously everything needs to be built around kaka'. Other than that nesta and pato would be the only other players I would say are untouchable in the 11.

On there day gattuso, pirlo and seedorf are world class. But consistency is the issue. Gattuso does come to the party most games, but has just lacked abit of motiviation and determination this season at times. But pirlo and seedorf the difference between there best and worst games is huge, and the fact there is no pressure on there position in the team makes it even worse.

The second tier midfield is very ordinary for the type of club we are. Ambrosini as good as he does his job, he slows down our play to often and lacks passing skills. And the rest don't even offer anything to compete for starting roles. Obviously theres gourcuff, but we've seen how thats played out.

The attack is probably worse. The whole season was planned on ronaldo leading the line. He didn't play one european match, wcc or uefa supercup. Enough said. The great debate of gila, what sort of player he is, at best he's a 3rd choice striker and thats being generous. Pippo is there for the special occassion but we can't expect much from him over the whole season. So that leaves us with just pato and maybe paloschi in the future.

As far as the defence goes without nesta theres nothing. A world world class cb is needed to replace paolo. Our fullbacks are adequate and can be world class at times. Janku is a makeshift left back, who is attack >>> defense and oddo is the opposite. So there is a stability issue at times. The other debate is kaladze, minus his one mistake again he can be a very solid cb. The question is how costly that mistake is. The second tier defenders are adequate to play there few games a year, but definitely nothing more than that. Bonera is the most potential defender we have at the moment and he's shown alot of promise.

Nothing needs to be said about the keepers. We need a new one period. As fantastic as kalac has been, he can't be given the reigns next season. Kalac should be the backup though.

Well if anyone of that made sense, its a win. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Building around kaka', nesta and pato suggests alot of changes are needed. And this obviously won't happen in one transfer period. A world class striker, cb and gk are a MUST. I'm not sure who, one player I would love is benzema. Him pato and kaka' could form something really special. Hopefully we break the bank to make some changes for next season. But to be honest I'm not expecting much.

Nice post fresh_prince7 (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Galliani is hardly going to come out at this stage of the season and announce wholesale changes in the summer. We've still got a good few months worth of football ahead of us and obtaining 4th place is massively important for this club. Why would big name players want to arrive in the transfer window when we're fighting for the Uefa Cup next season?

On the whole, Galliani knows what he's doing. He lives and breathes the club, spends most of his working life with the players and I'm sure (and hope) he will do what's needed in the summer.

Wenger's post-match reaction:

On his team's performance...
"I have big respect for Milan, but my team deserves a lot of credit - having come here and beaten a team like them. We have given the performance we wanted. We played with organisation and never dropped off. We did not give them time and went forward every time we could. We played with authority, maturity, talent and intelligence.

"We have knocked out the holders. This team is very young, but we have won at Bernabeu and San Siro, so you need some quality to do that. On the day we were better than Milan, but maybe we play against them on Friday and it will be different."

On a growing belief within the camp...
"Sometimes as manager, you feel there is something in the team and you know that for them to get a step higher up they have to deliver in a big game like tonight. I hope this will strengthen the belief in the team.

"The players grow. I feel tonight they deserve a lot of credit, because our confidence level in the camp has dropped a bit. We have not been in the most positive environment recently, from the media. I like the fact the team finds the mental strength to play without restriction."

On Arsenal's mental strength...
"The players grow. I feel they deserve a lot of credit, because our confidence level in the camp has dropped a bit. We have not been in the most positive environment recently, from the media. But I like the fact the team finds the mental strength to play without restriction.

"Now we have to keep a good balance between belief and humility - that is a very important quality as well because it allows a team to be consistent."

On Arsenal's chances of winning the Champions League...
"The competition is very hard now. It is a cup competition, and you have to take it like that. We will go for it - we are in the quarter-final, so why should we not believe we can do it.

"The growing process of a team is a bit like a wave, it goes up suddenly, then down with a few bad results, then it goes up high again.

"This game was of huge significance for my team because in between they did not deliver a convincing result. "Subconsciously for the team, it was very important to see how good they are."

Lippi To Take Over At Milan?

Marcello Lippi could take over at Milan in time for next season, according to the Corriere dello Sport.

(IMG:http://www.goal.com/images/27806_news.jpg)
My god! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) this can't be Lippi! this is Paul Newman!!

The Rossoneri’s painful exit from the Champions League last night to Arsenal has led to talk of an end of season revolution at the club.

This could start with Coach Carlo Ancelotti, who after seven wonderful years at San Siro, may have finally reached the end of his term in office.

The Corriere says that Lippi is being lined up as a replacement for Ancelotti, as Milan aim to build a new winning cycle.

Lippi has been out of the game since stepping down as coach of the Italy national team following their World Cup success in Germany in 2006.

Despite numerous offers to return to the bench, the Viareggio-born tactician has so far rejected all overtures.

However he has stated on numerous occasions that he will be returning to coaching in time for the start of next season.

Ancelotti meanwhile could find himself taking over at Barcelona, as current boss Frank Rijkaard is expected to move on to pastures new at the end of the campaign.
